Overview of Peregrine's first AEC-Q100 Grade 2 certified RF Switch
The PE42359 is an SPDT UltraCMOS® RF Switch designed to meet the needs of the automotive market. This 10MHz -- 3 GHz switch is AEC-Q100 Grade 2 Certified and supports an operating temperature range of -40 C to +105ºC
ISO/TS-16949 is an international standards Automotive Quality Systems technical specification. The specification was established to develop a Quality Management System that focuses on continuous improvement while emphasizing defect prevention and reducing waste and variation in the supply chain. The Automotive Electronics Council has defined the AEC-Q100 as a "Stress Test for Qualification of Integrated Circuits." The AEC-Q100 documents define qualification and re-qualification requirements and include unique test methods as well as use of statistical methods and extended operating conditions to establish part limits. Components that meet these specifications are suitable for use in harsh automotive environments without additional qualification testing. The automotive market is increasingly requiring its components suppliers to comply with the AEC-Q100 standard as well as TS-16494 certification of their quality systems. The major benefit to customers for using an AEC-Q100 certified part is that it allows them to avoid extensive testing and qualification of the product themselves. Instead, the supplier carries the burden of meeting the Automotive market needs
The PE42359 covers some of the top requirements of the Automotive market by providing low insertion loss at 25ºC of 0.35 dB and 0.5 dB @ 1 and 2 GHz respectively with only minor degradation at 105ºC, and high linearity performance across a wide temperature range. It has been AEC-Q100 Grade 2 Certified.
Applications include telematics, in vehicle wireless connectivity and communications, safety, sensors and maintenance. Examples of these include remote keyless entry, Emergency communications systems, Tire pressure monitoring systems, Automotive multimode compensor modules and Auto toll systems.
Other Key features include high ESD of 2kV Human Body Model, and is offered in a tiny 1.25 x 2 mm 6-lead SC70 package. The SPDT switch Evaluation Board was designed to ease customer evaluation of Peregrine's PE42359. Always use appropriate ESD precautions when testing the part.
