Video 2/5: Radar applications using R&S Instruments along with MATLAB

We will show the benefit of pulse compression by means of Barker codes and how to use it with Rohde & Schwarz instruments. The principle of Barker code transmission and reception / evaluation is explained. Using MATLAB we will prepare a vector signal generator for transmission of Barker code modulated signals. Finally the closed radar loop from baseband generation via over-the-air transmission/reception and decoding using a signal analyzer will be shown. At the end we will show how to create baseband signals directly from MATLAB. This will also be mentioned along with FM chirp signals.

Learning objectives:

- Purpose of Pulse Compression
- The principle of Barker Codes
- Evaluation of Radar signals using a signal analyzer
